Jesse La Flair Invents New Freerunning Move - Sunday, January 13th, 2013
Jesse La Flair, one of the newest members of Team Tempest, isn’t new to the amazing freerunning community on YouTube. With more than 6 million video views, he’s helped people all over the globe improve their technique and skillset.
Recently, he released his 100th YouTube video, with a particularly special gift to his subscribers: a brand-new move he invented called the Knee Loser.
“When I first started, I used my number of subscribers to help push me to train more often and harder,” he writes. “At some point, I promised that the moves I would do would get bigger as the rate of subscribers goes up. Well, I still feel the same way today.”
The video also features a compilation of recent highlights and favorite moments:
“This year I got asked to join the incredible Team of Tempest Freerunning. It is my brothers on the team that have pushed me the furthest,” he continued. “They set a bar of movement so how I am blinded by what should be normal. They are my family and I just wanted to say thanks for everyones help on pushing me harder and making me stronger.”

Dan Mast Lands Slam Dunk on Conan O’Brien - Saturday, January 12th, 2013
Recently on Conan, a few NCAA mascots showed up that probably won’t ever hear the roar of the crowd in a packed basketball arena. A Pumpkin Knight, Non-Dairy Creamer, and a host of others tried their luck in a slam-dunk contest.
The champion of the evening was the lowly Star Wars Nerd Who’s Already Camping Out for Tickets – the only one during the show to make the shot and achieve Team Coco Mascots Who Should Never Dunk fame.
Not only was this mascot a hero for Star Wars nerds everywhere, but he was also our own Dan “Shooter” Mast. After the crew at Team Coco called needing a stunt professional for an entertaining (and safe) stunt, Dan couldn’t refuse the chance to take the shot. Watch the video of the clip here, or check out the full episode!

Stephen Amell Prepped ‘Arrow’ Role with Tempest - Thursday, November 1st, 2012
The next time you turn on the TV, take another look at the actors that grace your screen. They are experts at fitting their roles, and often, this means intense training regimens and routines to fit the physical profile of their characters.
Stephen Amell makes looking tough, well, easy, in his new role on the lead of the CW’s “Arrow.” His character, Oliver Queen/Arrow, is a vigilante superhero dedicated to fighting the villains in society and in Queen’s own personal life.
Like the Arrow himself, Amell’s super powers weren’t created in a day. Tempest’s Paul “Diddy” Darnell worked with Amell to help develop the physique and skills Amell would need to accurately portray Oliver Queen.
“I showed Stephen the basics of parkour,” said Darnell. “Having a strong athletic base, he really adapted quickly to it. I taught him as much as I could before he had to leave for shooting in Vancouver. He learned a great base a skills to help make his character, the Arrow, even more badass.”
“Badass” is an apt word to describe Amell’s skills – if you haven’t yet, take a look at the video above and check out behind the scenes footage from a photo shoot for Emmy magazine. And don’t forget to tune into Arrow on Wednesdays at 8/7c!

Help Us Change Lives: Donate to “Beautiful” - Saturday, July 14th, 2012
There’s so much beauty in the world. We see it in our movement, in training, in mastering a new trick. It’s an intangible, but everyone can feel it.
But outside freerunning, people have a different definition of beauty. They see height, age, weight, size. Even for our favorite lady and teammate, Luci Romberg, this was a struggle to overcome. She battled an eating disorder in college and had a negative perception of herself that took years to overcome. But now, she’s out to change the perception of beauty through a new Kickstarter project, along with support from Brady Romberg, Victor Lopez, and Chad Bonanno.
“Beautiful” will be an incredible film if it reaches its funding goal by August 10. If you have a little extra cash (even $1 helps!), we would love to see this project become reality.
Here’s a bit more from Luci on why this project matters:
“I battled an eating disorder in college, and it came to define me in ways I never expected. I was extremely critical of myself, and I thought that unless I was thin, I didn’t deserve to be happy.
When I met Team Tempest and started freerunning my mind opened and my eyes began to see so much more than traditional beauty. Freerunning gave me the confidence I needed to understand that I am good enough, I am pretty enough, and I have a lot to offer just being myself. A person’s beauty is not defined by how tall, thin, or pretty they are – it is their soul, beliefs, and morals that makes them Beautiful.”
Please support Beautiful today by donating, sharing it with your friends, and being a part of this new movement!

Ted The Movie: Tempest Makes Cameo - Saturday, June 30th, 2012

Ted isn’t your typical teddy bear. In fact, he’s the opposite of a traditionally sweet and cuddly stuffed animal. We’d justify this opinion by showing you some of examples here, but they’re probably not appropriate to write down.
Tempest didn’t want to miss out on Ted, and two of our teammates make appearances in the new film. Gabe “Jaywalker” Nunez and Luci “Steel” Romberg both did stunt work in the film. You can also catch them in a party scene involving a duck (we won’t say more) so keep an eye out! If you spot them, be the first to tell us on Twitter what color shirts they’re wearing, and you’ll win your own Tempest tee as a prize!
Still not sure if you want to see Ted The Movie? Here’s a bit from the bear himself on why you should go: “My movie, Ted, which is about me, opens tomorrow. It’s better than John Carter and shorter than Titanic 3-D.” Who wouldn’t want to catch that?

Tempest’s “Teen Wolf” - Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012
Get More: Teen Wolf, Full Episodes
Are you ready for Season 2 of MTV’s Teen Wolf?
The smash series follows Tyler Posey (played by Scott McCall), a typical teen who must hide the fact that he was bitten by a werewolf. His supernatural powers are, frankly, awesome, and who better to bring to life the animal Teen Wolf’s leading man than Tempest’s David “OJ” Elson?
In the preview above, the first 10 minutes of Season 2 get us right back into the plot, along with some wolfish running and jumping. A little parkour in the mix brings authenticity to the moves, and we have to give OJ props for his strength and endurance in these clips!
Enjoy the preview, and don’t miss the premier of Season 2 on June 3!
